Revamp, Modification and Enhancement
of Existing Process Plants

In addition to new plants, which MINO Engineering AG implements and commissions either in cooperation with the customer or as general contractor (GU) as complete turnkey plants, MINO Engineering AG also offers comprehensive services in connection with existing fluidised bed plants.

Thus MINO Engineering AG already supports numerous operators of existing plants with the following services:

  • Modification and conversion of existing plants to a new product or process

  • Modernization of existing plants to the current state of the art
(e.g. control system, machinery directive, ATEX directive, CE conformity, etc.)

  • Extension of existing plants
(e.g. extension with spray technology, extension with inerting, installation of a CIP system, etc.)

  • Process optimization for existing plants

  • Increased performance of existing plants

  • Improvement of the product quality

  • Improving energy efficiency

  • Improvement of handling and process sequences in existing plants

  • Relocation of existing plants

  • Procurement of spare parts of any kind for existing plants
(both system-specific spare parts such as seals, filter elements, product discharge valves, spray systems, etc.)

  • Exchange of the fluidisation bottom

  • etc.

It makes no difference whether it is our own fluidised bed plants realised by MINO Engineering AG or existing fluidised bed plants from our suppliers.

Practical example:
Modification of a 20-year-old Fluidised Bed Granulator

The following reconstruction measures were realised by MINO Engineering AG:

  • Expansion to pressure shock resistance

  • Extension with new process possibilities

  • Expansion to a CIP-capable plant
(incl. realisation of the preparation unit for the CIP media)

  • Creation and commissioning of a new control system

  • Qualification (DQ, IQ, OQ)

  • Commissioning

  • Validation together with the customer (PQ)

  • Updating the documentation (existing and new components)

Practical example:
Fabrication and Integration of a new Product Discharge Valve
for a 25-year-old Fluidised Bed Granulator

The following reconstruction measures were realised by MINO Engineering AG:

  • Measurement of the existing dimensions on site

  • Definition of the new requirements for the new product discharge valve

  • Implementation of a continuously variable control of the valve (0% open to 100% open)

  • Adaptation of the new design to the existing situation, the new requirements and the currently applicable directives and regulations (MRL)

  • Production, delivery and commissioning

  • Updating the documentation

Advantages, new features and functions of the new product discharge valve:

  • Improved design (handling, hygiene, etc.)

  • Adjustable discharge rate

  • Unconditionally testable 10 bar pressure shock resistance

  • Solution of the problem of future spare parts procurement

Practical example:
Fabrication and Integration of new Metallic Process Filters
for an existing Fluidised Bed Granulator

The following reconstruction measures were realised by MINO Engineering AG:

  • Measurement of the existing diemnsions on site

  • Definition of the new requirements for the new process filters

  • Adaptation of the new design to the existing situation, the new requirements and the currently applicable directives and regulations (MRL)

  • Production, delivery and commissioning

  • Updating the documentation

Advantages, new features and functions of the new process filters:

  • Enhanced separation capacity

  • Reduced pressure drop

  • CIP-design

  • Easier handling and longer lifetime due to more robust design

Practical example:
Fabrication and Integration of a new Fluidisation Plate
for an existing Fluidised Bed Dryer

The following reconstruction measures were realised by MINO Engineering AG:

  • Measurement of the existing diemnsions on site

  • Definition of the new requirements for the new fluidisation plate

  • Adaptation of the new design to the existing situation, the new requirements and the currently applicable directives and regulations (MRL)

  • Production, delivery and commissioning

  • Updating the documentation

Austausch Wirbelboden mit Durchmesser 2'600 mm für bestehenden Wirbelschichttrockner Lebensmittel

The following reconstruction measures were realised by MINO Engineering AG:

  • Enhanced fluidisation

  • shorter drying time

  • Reduced creation of lumps and cakes during drying

  • Higher product quality

  • Reduced discharge time due to special design of the fluidisation plate in the area of the discharge valve
